About Rajen
Dr. Rajen Desai is a board-certified cataract and glaucoma surgeon with over 20 years of experience in vision research and advanced surgical care. He specializes in no-stitch femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery, premium intraocular lenses that correct astigmatism for both distance and reading vision, and glaucoma procedures. Throughout his career, he has led and participated in FDA clinical trials focused on improving surgical outcomes and developing innovative interventional glaucoma treatments. Dr. Desai is frequently selected to introduce new surgical technologies in New Jersey, reflecting his reputation for precision and consistently strong outcomes. He is also an invited national and international speaker on cataract and glaucoma surgery safety.
Education and Certifications
Dr. Desai graduated with Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University and earned his MD from Stanford Medical School, including additional training in clinical research. He completed his ophthalmology residency, chief residency, and the Heed Foundation glaucoma fellowship at Northwestern University. He is board certified in ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of several national ophthalmic societies and has received both the “America’s Top Ophthalmologist” and “Best Teacher of Medical Students” awards. Dr. Desai was a 2nd Lieutenant and solo pilot in the US Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol in Texas.
