About Mitchel
Mitchel Ashkanazy, MD is a Board Certified general ophthalmologist who has been in practice in Kinnelon, NJ since the 1980’s providing comprehensive eye care to patients. His office is experienced in diagnosing and managing many eye conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. The office also examines patients with refractive errors, prescribes glasses and performs contact lens fittings.
Education and Certifications
Dr. Ashkanazy is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Dr. Ashkanazy earned his Medical Doctor degree at the Chicago Medical School and completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the clinical campuses of SUNY Stonybrook and Nassau County Medical Center program in New York. He then completed a research fellowship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York in Anterior Segment and Glaucoma. For many years he was a clinical instructor at the Ophthalmology residency program at SUNY Downstate. He is currently on Staff at the Clara Maass Medical Center and performs procedures at the River Drive Surgery and Laser Center in Elmwood Park, NJ.
