About Anthony

Dr. Anthony Gurdak, a New York native of Cuban and Polish descent, is a dedicated optometric physician committed to serving the greater West New York community alongside his mother, Dr. Madeline Romeu. Fluent in Spanish and conversant in Polish and Italian, Dr. Gurdak is deeply involved in community health, including active participation in the West New York Lions Club and the Dante Alighieri Society of Jersey City. His passion for volunteering has led him to provide eye care in the Dominican Republic through the Volunteering Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH), where he has been recognized for his contributions by the Lions Club and local authorities. When not practicing, Dr. Gurdak enjoys outdoor activities such as skiing, cycling, surfing, and sailing.

Education and Certifications

Dr. Gurdak completed his graduate studies in biochemistry and management at Saint Peter’s University and the Chemical Institute of Sarriá in Barcelona, Spain. He earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Inter-American University in Puerto Rico and completed his doctoral internship at Omni Eye Services in New York City and New Jersey, where he trained with specialists in retina, glaucoma, dry eye, cataract, oculoplastic-reconstructive, and neuro-ophthalmology. He continues his professional education through affiliations with the American Optometric Association, the American College of Nutrition, and the International Academy of Orthokeratology.
