About Alan
Dr. Alan Busby is a specialized optometrist with a deep focus on Myopia Control. He brings a wealth of research and clinical experience to his practice, which he shares with his wife in Bergenfield, where they have served the community since 2015. Dr. Busby has extensive experience working with both pediatric and elderly patients, including over eight years as an eye physician consultant in nursing homes. His dedication to understanding and treating myopia is rooted in his significant research background, which continues to inform his patient care today.
Education and Certifications
Dr. Busby completed his undergraduate studies at Wesleyan University before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from SUNY Optometry in Manhattan in 2001. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Vision Science from SUNY Optometry and a second Master’s Degree in Neuroscience from the City College of New York, which he received in 2008. Dr. Busby graduated Phi Beta Kappa and focused his research on the causes of nearsightedness, earning a five-year K08 Research Grant from the National Institutes of Health in 2002 to study myopia. He has published and presented numerous research projects related to myopia, and worked alongside one of the world’s leading myopia researchers, Josh Wallman. After leaving the research community in 2008, Dr. Busby transitioned to clinical practice in New York and New Jersey.
